The Process Involved in Placing a Dental Veneer | Family Smile Center LLC

Are you planning on beautifying your smile with a dental veneer? If so, good for you! Dental veneers in Frederick, MD, are beneficial products that cover the front surface of your teeth and perfect the imperfections of your smile. If you’re interested in the details of the dental veneer treatment, our Family Smile Center team is more than happy to help you! When you come into our office, you can expect the following steps:

Step No. 1: Diagnosis and treatment planning
Explain the results you are trying to achieve to our team. That way, your dentist will know exactly what type of veneer you will need. Then, your dentist will examine your smile and will make sure dental veneers are the perfect cosmetic product for you. If they are, your dentist will take dental X-rays to check and see if everything is in great condition.

Step No. 2: Tooth preparation
Your dentist will prepare the tooth that is receiving the veneer by trimming the enamel to make room for the product. Generally, only about ½ millimeter will need to be removed. Then, your dentist will make impressions of your tooth and will send those impressions to a dental lab where your veneer will be created.

Step No. 3: Veneer bonding
Once your veneer is made, your dentist will check the size, color, and fit of the product. If it provides perfect results, your dentist will clean the tooth and will roughen up the surface. Then, your dentist will apply special cement to the veneer and will place the veneer over the tooth. A light will then be used to harden the cement quickly.
