Sedation Dentistry: Feeling Comfortable in the Dental Chair | Family Smile Center LLC

Are you terrified of going to the dental office? If so, we are happy to help you feel comfortable in the hands of Dr. Cha and Dr. Dinh with the use of sedation dentistry!

Sedation dentistry involves the use of sedatives to help patients stay calm and relaxed during their dental appointment. At our office, we are proud to offer oral sedation and nitrous oxide sedation to give you the best and most comfortable experience possible.

Oral sedation
Oral sedation comes in the form of a pill. You will take this pill prior to your appointment and it will make you feel calm and relaxed by the time you get to our office. The affects of this sedative are similar to those of Valium, which is a relaxing and calming medication. While you are under the affects of oral sedation, you will remain awake and responsive and your nerves and anxiety will disappear.

Nitrous oxide sedation
Nitrous oxide is a sedative that is also known as laughing gas. As you sit in the dental chair, Dr. Cha or Dr. Dinh will place a small mask over your nose. This mask will release a light, flavored gas into the air that will make you feel tingly, light headed, and relaxed. As you deeply inhale, you will feel more and more comfortable in our dental office. You will also stay awake while you breathe in this sedative, and the effects will wear off quickly once Dr. Cha or Dr. Dinh removes the mask from your nose.

If you have any questions or if you would like to know more about sedation dentistry, call our office today and talk to a member of our friendly dental team. We are happy to help you feel more comfortable and relaxed at our dental office!
