Your oral health is important to us, and it’s our job to make sure you have a beautiful, healthy smile year round and especially during the holidays. The holidays are dangerous times for your teeth and it’s important that you do everything you can to prevent tooth decay and other dental issues while you fill your mouth with your favorite treats. So, to help you take great care of your smile, we suggest attending your six month checkups as well as:
Brushing your teeth
It’s best that you brush your teeth twice a day: once in the morning and once at night. However, if you can brush your teeth 30 minutes after each meal, you can do that as well. As you brush, make sure you use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Also, make sure you brush for a duration of 2 minutes each time.
Flossing your smile
It’s best to floss at least once a day. Flossing helps free the food particles that are stuck between your teeth, and it’s especially beneficial when the toothbrush can’t quite free them. This technique also helps remove plaque from between your teeth. This helps reduce the chances of developing gum disease.
Rinsing your mouth
If you want to perform a thorough cleaning job, it’s best to rinse your mouth with beneficial mouthwash after you have brushed and flossed your teeth. You only need to rinse once a day. With the many types of mouthwash products available today, we recommend rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash, plaque mouthwash, fluoride mouthwash, or desensitizing mouthwash.
Cleaning your tongue
Make sure you clean your tongue one or two times a day. You can clean your tongue with a tongue scraper or with your toothbrush. No matter how you clean your tongue, make sure you clean the entire muscle, including the left side, center, right side, as well as the back.
These five things are important when it comes to protecting your smile and maintaining your oral health. If you need help or if you have any questions, please feel free to call our office today and talk to a member of our team. We are more than happy to talk with you and help you in any way we can!
