CHICAGO (June 27, 2012)—During the 2012 Annual Meeting & Exhibits of The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Dr. Peter William Cha, DDS, MAGD, was honored to receive the prestigious Mastership Award. The AGD is an association to which more than 37,000 dentists belong. The professionals in this association are committed to the provision of quality dental care and education regarding oral health.

Receipt of the Mastership award is one of the highest honors a dentist can receive and the top honor offered by the AGD, a prestigious designation. Dr. Cha’s road to Mastership involved 1,100 hours of continuing education courses.

Receiving the Mastership Award places Dr. Cha among a group of approximately 2,300 active Academy of General Dentistry Masters. This group understands that going above and beyond the basics of dentistry is the foundation of their patients’ good oral health and attractive smiles.

AGD President, Jeffrey M. Cole, DDS, MBA, FAGD, says, “We are proud to recognize Dr. Cha’s commitment to quality care, education on oral health, and continued education with the Mastership Award. In the United States and Canada, there are over 169,000 general dentists, with less than 2 percent of them achieving this level of education and skill with the AGD. Dr. Cha’s accomplishment is remarkable.”

Dr. Cha received his dental degree in 1986 after completing studies at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland. His practice is located in Frederick, Maryland. In addition to membership with the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Cha also belongs to the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and he is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr. Cha and his wife, Sandy, have two children, Amanda and Alex.
